‘Ireland is changing’: booze-free bar opens in Dublin
The Virgin Mary will only sell alcohol-free beer, wine and cocktails
The Irish writer Brendan Behan made a famous declaration that he drank only on two occasions. “When I’m thirsty and when I’m not.” Many compatriots adopted the quip as a defiant motto, an embrace of the stereotype of the boozy paddy swaying on a bar stool.
But the image needs updating because Dublin is about to get a pub with a twist: no alcohol.
