John Daly opts out of Open after R&A refuse to allow him to use golf cart

The former champion John Daly has withdrawn from next week’s Open Championship at Royal Portrush.
Daly initially said he would try to play “through the pain” of degenerative arthritis in his right knee after seeing his request to use a golf cart turned down by the R&A on Saturday.
